Babes Golf — the community-minded golf membership program that aims to make the game more accessible, social and supportive — is set to debut a cool new perk: an exclusive club-fitting partnership with True Spec Golf, the premium brand-agnostic club fitting company that was founded in 2014. The partnership, which was announced on Thursday, will allow Babes Golf members to receive significant discounts on fittings and purchases at nearly 40 True Spec locations around the country.

“When I first got into golf, I didn’t know where to start on getting clubs,” said Babes Golf founder Alex Andersen. “I just went and got a starter set, which is perfect if you’re just starting out. But a lot of times women come to us and they have hand-me-downs from their husband, these really heavy clubs. Golf is already hard and it’s just making it harder.

“So, what we find is about three or four years in, the girls are ready to move on from their starter set,” she continued. “They’ve really invested a lot more into their game, they’ve taken clinics, they’ve gone to lessons, and they’re realizing their set is not for them. And that’s why I love True Spec, because there are locations all over and a lot of times people don’t know that they can even get a fitting, so I found that it’s a very educational experience.”

In addition to serving as Babes Golf’s exclusive club fitting provider, True Spec will also be partnering with Babes Golf on promotional events in markets where both operate, as well as at Babes Golf flagship events like “Babecation” trips, where groups of women enjoy a girls’ golf getaway in a premium golf destination. Scheduled Babecations this year include a trip to La Quinta in May, where a round at PGA West is on the docket, and an event at Big Cedar Lodge in October, which is already sold out.

Babes Golf launched in 2017 in San Diego to help women find other women to play with. There are currently three tiers of Babes Golf memberships with annual fees of $100 (National), $200 (Premier) and $450 (Elite). Benefits of membership include event access and merchandise discounts as well as a line into Babes Golf’s nationwide community. Whether you’re new to the game or a seasoned player, Babes Golf members can attend golf outings, clinics, range meet-ups and social events, as well as connect with other Babes Golf members in the area to make new friends or fill out a foursome via the community app.

The True Spec partnership will enable Premier and Elite Babes Golf membership holders to schedule one complimentary annual fitting per year — a $375 value — while the National members will receive a 50 percent discount. Each membership level will also be given discounts on purchases made at True Spec.

“We are dedicated to growing the game of golf, and as a company, our goal is to give every player we fit the best possible experience,” said True Spec president Scott Anderson in a release. “We have always encouraged women to embrace the game, and a big part of being able to do that is by having a welcoming environment to be properly fit for clubs. We’re delighted to be that place for all Babes Golf members.”

For Andersen, the partnership represents increased accessibility and opportunity for community.

“A big part of our mission is to make playing golf as easy and enjoyable as possible for women, and being aligned with True Spec plays an integral role in helping us achieve that,” she said. “I just want to find all the golf girls out there and bring everyone together.”
