Casemiro has no intention of reversing his decision to quit Manchester United at the end of the season.

The Brazil international’s strong recent form has led to calls for the 34-year-old to have a re-think and contemplate remaining at Old Trafford but he says his mind is made up.

In remarks reported by The Athletic following Brazil’s 2-1 defeat to France last night, he said: “I am still enjoying it a lot [at United].

“I believe the announcement is now done. It is huge, the affection that the fans have shown towards me. But I do really believe the decision is made and done. I am enjoying myself right now. I believe there will be some difficult moments, these [final] games at Manchester United.”

Where next for Casemiro?

The former Real Madrid man will have several options come the end of the season with clubs in Saudi Arabia and Major League Soccer interested in bringing him on board.

Despite his age, Casemiro has been a key part of United’s revival under Michael Carrick and he says he is relishing playing under another former central midfielder.

He added: “Above all, Michael is a specialist in my position on the field, he was a truly great player. That makes everything much easier and he is always talking to us.

“I feel like we are in a good dynamic right now in Manchester and my objective now is to get the club back into the Champions League.”

United went into the international break in third place in the Premier League after a run of one defeat in 10 games since Carrick replaced Ruben Amorim.

They do not return to domestic action until a home clash with relegation-threatened Leeds on April 13.
