Lauren Oakley hit out at Birmingham International passenger for the ‘abominable’ way they were speaking on her Friday train to London

A BBC Strictly Come Dancing star has slammed “disgraceful” male passengers on a Birmingham to London train. Professional dancer Lauren Oakley hit out at Birmingham International passenger for the ‘abominable’ way they spoke about women in the carriage.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, Lauren fired: “To the group of cis white men on the 10.58 train from BHX to Euston, the way you are speaking about women is disgraceful. You should be ashamed of yourselves. And I only hope men don’t speak about your daughters in this way.”

“The fact that you think in this way in the first place is abominable – and the way you think the whole carriage wants to hear your conversation is disgusting.”

A fan replied: “It’s a horrible society we live in hope your ok.” A second said: “Some men have very terrifying and awful views on women. It makes me feel so sick. Women are incredible and do not deserve any of this behaviour. I’m really sorry you had to experience this Lauren, thank you for speaking up.” A third said: “What the hell?”

“Hope you’re OK,” another replied. Another said: “Happens a lot on modern public transport.”

Lauren spoke out hours after Strictly hit the headlines that the news broke that dancer Luba Mushtuk has become the third professional dancer to waltz away from the BBC show. Luba follows Nadiya Bychkova and Karen Hauer out the door, with bosses making heartfelt goodbyes to the long-serving professionals.

Today it was Luba’s turn as she said she was leaving with “a heart full of gratitude”, adding: “The time has come for me to step away from Strictly Come Dancing.”

“With a heart full of gratitude, the time has come for me to step away from Strictly Come Dancing. Thank you for the amazing opportunity and the unforgettable memories. It has truly meant the world to me.
