At just 15, Manya Harsha has replaced 22,000+ plastic bags—using nothing but old sarees.
Inspired by her grandmother, who stitched cloth bags at home, Manya turned grief into action—launching Grandma’s Green Weaves.
What started with a few sarees is now a growing movement, with donation drives, local tailors, and thousands of eco-friendly bags in circulation.
“Many people said plastic bags were easier. Some didn’t take me seriously because I was still in school. But I realised awareness takes patience.”
With a mission to plant one million trees and educate one million children, Manya is just getting started.
