Meet Miranda Hope’s Ex-Husband, Chase McWhorter, Amid His Kissing Drama With Jessi Draper

Jessi Draper is among the most renowned faces on television. She is best known for appearing on the reality show, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. However, at the moment, Jessi is in the limelight for all things personal. A few days ago, on March 20, 2026, it was revealed that her husband, Jordan Ngatikuara, had filed for divorce. The duo had tied the knot back in 2020, but soon hit a rough patch in their marriage, which was captured in most of season 3 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. 

Well, as if news of Jessi getting divorced wasn’t shocking enough, just a few days after Jordan filed for divorce, it has been revealed that Jessi is romantically involved with Chase McWhorter. For those unaware, Chase is Jessi’s Mormon Wives co-star, Miranda Hope’s ex-husband. On March 27, 2026, Miranda told Entertainment Tonight that Chase had been upfront with her and told her “they were talking and that they had kissed.” If this has made you curious about Chase McWhorter, here’s everything we know about him.

Chase McWhorter got married to Miranda almost a decade back, in 2017. A couple of years into their marriage, the couple welcomed two children, a son, Brooks, in 2019 and a daughter, Cohen, in 2021. Their marital bliss ended after 7 years, when Chase and Miranda decided to divorce and go their separate ways. At the time, Miranda told People that she was “just kind of trying to have life experiences.” According to her, she wanted to spend time just being herself while also spending time with her children. Miranda added that while she was open to the journey ahead, she was not currently looking to date anyone.  

Chase McWhorter was involved in the “soft-swinging” scandal with Miranda Hope  

The “soft-swinging” scandal was the talk of the town when Mormon Wives fame, Taylor Frankie Paul, confessed in June 2022 that she and her then-husband, Tate Paul, were involved in partner-swapping with other couples in their Mormon friend circle, which was based in Utah. Apparently, the partner-swapping was consensual, and among the other couples involved were Chase McWhorter and Miranda Hope.  

For those who have watched The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 3, you might be aware that, following Taylor’s bombshell revelations, the on-screen tension when the season rolled out was palpable. To mention, in episode 10 of the show, Chase was seen meeting up with Taylor for what he believed was a “date.” This is when he admitted that his feelings had grown significantly when they were “soft-swinging.” In the episode, Chase claimed that he thought of Taylor as one of the coolest people ever, before he suggested that they should “kiss for old time’s sake.”  

Chase McWhorter was arrested for DUI 

Last year, in July 2025, Chase was reportedly arrested on charges of driving under the influence (DUI) as well as possession of a controlled substance. Later that year, in December, Chase went on TikTok to address the same issue. On the platform, Chase claimed that he was pulled over for driving under the influence and that he had ingested substances that he shouldn’t have. He called his decision to get behind the wheel of a car in that state extremely shortsighted, selfish and dangerous.  

While his license was temporarily suspended following the incident, Chase fell into trouble again on December 12, 2025, due to his driving. Per records obtained by People, he was pulled over and was eventually charged with two things: driving without a driver’s license and driving on a suspended or revoked license. When he allegedly failed to appear for his court appearance scheduled earlier this year on January 26, 2026, related to the incident, reports claimed that a warrant was issued for his arrest. Chase later refuted the claims in the comment section of a TikTok discussing the same, writing, “No arrest warrant lol. I rescheduled the 9 am hearing to 1 pm due to sick daughter and Miranda being out of town today.”  

Chase McWhorter dated Mormon Wives star, Layla Taylor, and is currently romantically involved with Jessi Draper 

After Chase got divorced from Miranda, he went on to date several women. This includes Kate Racker as well as Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star, Layla Taylor. Layla confessed to Swoon in November 2025 that she and Chase had gone on a few dates about two years before she got involved with his brother, Mason McWhorter. Although she did reveal that her relationship with Chase was far from serious. To quote her: 

“That relationship was very, very, very brief. I wouldn’t even say it was a relationship, to be honest. I did not get to know Chase on a deep level at all.” 

Most recently, on March 27, 2026, Miranda Hope told Entertainment Tonight that at present her ex-husband, Chase is involved with another one of her Mormon Wives co-stars, Jessi Draper. Although she did not reveal if the duo were officially a couple, Miranda alleged that Chase and Jessi were “talking” and that they had also kissed each other. She told the outlet that after hearing the news, she feels not only disrespected by Chase but also slighted by her friend, Jessi. In her words: 

“Although I do feel disrespected by Chase, I feel slighted by my friend. Chase and I are no longer partners, and while I have a high expectation of him as a co-parent, I also hold my friends to a high standard and believe in girl code.” 

If reports are to be believed, when the news of Jessi and Chase kissing broke, the former sent a bunch of flowers to Miranda. She also allegedly included a note which read that she completely understood why Miranda would be upset with her. And knowing that Jessi sent Miranda “a little something to let you know I’m thinking about you and I’m so, so, sorry.”
