The Sun are now headed to the Sun Belt.
According to multiple reports, the Sun are being sold to the Fertitta family — who own the NBA’s Rockets — and will be relocated to Houston.
The team is set to play one last season at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., in 2026 before relocating in 2027.

An official announcement is expected to come on Monday, with the WNBA previously approving Houston as a city for future relocation or expansion.
The franchise is expected to revive the Comets’ name, an ode to the Houston Comets franchise that was in the WNBA from 1997 to 2008 and won four consecutive championships from 1997 to 2000.
WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert has previously stated strong interest in a Houston team, saying last June that the city was “up next” and “the one we have our eye on.”
“There are a variety of cities that obviously bid, and one of those I wanted to shout out — because they have such a strong history in this league and their great ownership group — is Houston,” Engelbert said at the time, according to CBS Sports. “The Houston Comets were just an amazing one, the first four inaugural championships in the WNBA.

“So I would say that’s the one, obviously, we have our eye on. [Owner] Tilman [Feritta’s] been a great supporter of the WNBA, and we’ll stay tuned on that.”
Rockets’ ownership was in substantive talks with the Sun to purchase the franchise, ESPN reported in December.
The Sun, who have been owned by the Mohegan Tribe since 2003, reached an agreement with Celtics minority owner Steve Pagliuca to buy the franchise for a record $325 million in August with plans to relocate the team to Boston.
The WNBA blocked the sale, however, stating that “relocation decisions are made by the WNBA Board of Governors and not by individual teams,” along with the fact that cities that already underwent the expansion process have priority over Boston.
