Vicky Pattison has responded to those who have accused her of making up her PMDD (premenstrual dysphoric disorder) diagnosis, which is a severe form of PMS (premenstrual syndrome) and sometimes leaves her struggling to get out of bed

Vicky Pattison has hit back at trolls who have accused her of lying about her health. The Geordie Shore star, 38, took to Instagram with a defiant post after being diagnosed with PMDD (premenstrual dysphoric disorder), which is a severe form of PMS (premenstrual syndrome), four years ago, after suffering from crippling cramps, anxiety, and depression.

The condition, which the NHS describes as affecting a small number of women who experience more severe symptoms of PMS (premenstrual syndrome) and whose symptoms can be extremely intense, can have a notably negative impact on everyday life. However, Vicky, has been accused of ‘making up’ her diagnosis, with some keyboard warriors accusing her of “creating an illness just to stay relevant”.

Responding to the taunts, Vicky posted a video of herself, dancing her around her bedroom, sporting a blue jumpsuit – sticking her middle finger up. Revealing the abuse she’s been dealing with since sharing her diagnosis, she wrote in text over the video: “Things I’ve had said to me since I got diagnosed with PMDD.”

The first comment was: “Another celeb creating an illness just to stay relevant.” Another said: “The majority of us suffer. Just get on with it.” Meanwhile, a third crudely asked: “Does this explain why she’s been a c*** for so many years?”

The reality star captioned the video: “You’ve got to laugh… But also, respectfully f*** all the way off.” Vicky has revealed she was previously dismissed by doctors, who told her “it might be better if you lose weight” and “other women handle PMS [symptoms one to two weeks before a period] better.”

However, after going to see a private doctor, Vicky was finally diagnosed with PMDD and has since been trying to find the right treatment for her.

Sending their messages of support after seeing her Instagram video, the star’s fans rallied around her. One fan said: “You’ve got this so proud of you always.”

Another person wrote: “If it wasn’t for you speaking up about PMDD I wouldn’t of known about it and got the support and understanding I so desperately needed for years.”

Meanwhile, a third fan said: “Proud of you for talking and educating people about the realities of PMDD, you’re helping so many people and you can’t please everyone.”

Vicky has disclosed that her PMDD sometimes leaves her struggling to “get out of bed”. In her latest television project, the two-part E4 series Maybe, Baby?, which scheduled to premiere on March 31, the familiar face discusses parenthood with husband, Ercan Ramadan.

She told Closer magazine: “I worry what type of mum it will make me. It’s a very real concern. You see yourself as being this fun mother who’s reading stories and making sourdough from scratch or whatever. But, when I’m in the trenches of my PMDD fog, I can barely get out of bed.”
