Tulisa has opened up on her friends cancer diagnosis and how she ‘cried like a baby’ for weeks after quitting smoking. The former X Factor judge, 37, gave her followers an update on Sunday and shared how she has hit a milestone since quitting smoking and how she is focusing on self care.

Tulisa shared a Photo to Instagram of her close friend Michelle McKenna, along with the caption: “1. 2025 was a big year in terms of emotional & personal growth. A lot of chaos to work through. Recognising her own achievements, she continued: “Today marks 6 weeks without cigarettes & 1 month nicotine free! Still on a 0 nicotine vape till withdrawals ease. Huge thanks to @allencarrseasyway for their home 1 on 1 session & continued support.”

She added: “I cried like a baby the first few weeks, but I’ve given myself grace & stayed focused on exercise & self care. Feeling stronger every day.”

It comes as she detailed her ‘intense’ seven day ayahuasca retreat in Peru where she was left ‘crying for hours’ after she took a psychedelic drug.

Ayahuasca is a blend of two plants, the ayahuasca vine and a shrub called chacruna, which reportedly contains the hallucinogenic drug (DMT). Tulisa was involved in three ayahuasca ceremonies where she had the brew while in the presence of doctors and shamans.

The singer shared some clips from her stay where she slammed people who ‘just see the substance as a drug’. She told her followers: “So guys… I spent 7 nights at @etnikas.ayahuasca.retreats & had 3 ayahuasca ceremonies, each a different experience & more work than expected. I understand why the plant & process are so sacred. Those who see it as just a ‘drug’ need more research.”

Discussing the ’emotional’ experience, she went on to say: “‘The main message I received was the ability to see my own light & purpose, mostly through the eyes of those I love & that love me. It was super emosh. I spent hours crying in the first ceremony.

“I connected with loved ones who’ve passed, including Uncle B, & the higher consciousness of those currently in my life, & those with unresolved conflict, past lives/soul contracts, those yet to enter my future, as well as possible glimpses of my future.

“How much truth was in that will be revealed in time. I felt the higher consciousness (God) that we’re all part of. My downloads were very intense. Throughout the group experiences varied, but no one who prepared seemed to regret it. I was exhausted after the 1st, I felt like I’d gone through a kind of spiritual labour for 6 hours.”

Tulisa said she asked for the ‘death of my ego’ but added: “Only to realize my ego was my survival protection due to a deep fear of being misunderstood. & I emerged even more assured & empowered on my path. The second ceremony was heavy due to exhaustion. So I asked to be pulled out. The doctors & shamans @etnikas.ayahuasca.retreats handled it very well. Their medical rep is one of the reasons I chose them.

“In the third ceremony, I purged for about six hours, consistently throwing up releasing old trauma & anxiety. I’d say I feel like a new woman, but I more so understand & remember who I am. I feel more balanced, grounded, calm, self assured & powerful. This intense & sacred experience isn’t for the faint hearted, but if you’re ready for growth, it’s worth researching. Lots of love, Tula 2.0. P.s still cigarette free.”
