Scott Mills left London for a £1.5 million home in the country after raking in over £355,000 for his BBC Radio 2 gig, which he has now been sacked from in a shock announcement

Scott Mills has been sacked by the BBC, but before he left, his sizeable salary meant he could snap up a house worth over £1 million. The country home is shared with Mills’ husband Sam Vaughn.

Mills was fired from his job as the host of the breakfast show on BBC Radio 2 over an allegation concerning “personal conduct”. This came just six days after he was first removed from the show and replaced by Gary Davies.

His axing means he will no longer be able to cash in his BBC salary, which had been rumoured to be one of the highest at Radio 2. Mills was thought to be earning between £355,000 and £359,000 annually.

It’s since been revealed that the BBC’s decision to sack Scott Mills relates to a 2016 police investigation into “serious sexual offences” against a teenage boy. Mills was questioned by police under caution but the case was dropped because of a lack of evidence. However the Mirror understands the sacking relates to this individual.

Thanks to his huge salary, Mills was able to buy a home in Hertfordshire that was worth £1,425,000 when it was bought. The home was bought in 2022 and, according to Zoopla, has five bedrooms. It also has a modern bathroom with a huge walk in shower, a combined kitchen and dining room as well as a separate sitting room and five bathrooms. The radio star moved there with his husband Sam Vaughn after living in London for years.

Mills former Kentish Town home was featured on an episode of ITV’s Through The Keyhole, which aired in 2019. Mills and Vaughn moved out just months after the presenter made the jump from Radio 1 to Radio 2 and took over Steve Wright’s mid-afternoon slot.

Social media posts show Mills and Vaughn to be enjoying their home in a variety of ways, including moving around the kitchen in Heelys and spending time with their dog Teddy.

Only a few months ago, Mills explained how Teddy had made their home better. He said: “From muddy walks to stolen space in the bed, he’s filled our home with so much love, comfort and happiness. We honestly can’t imagine life without him.”

The home also has an internal garage as well as a paved driveway for with space for multiple cars. Mills reportedly has both a Tesla and Range Rover Evoque.
