Britney Spears has been given a boost of support by her eldest son, Sean Preston Federline, after the pair spent time together following the star’s arrest

Britney Spears’ son Sean Preston Federline has made a huge statement of support for his mum. The 20-year-old swapped out his surname on Instagram.

Rather than read his father’s surname, Sean’s Instagram page shows him as Sean P Spears. It comes as he has been by his mother’s side since her arrest last month.

Britney, Sean and brother, Jayden James, recently spent time together on a boat and took to social media to share the happy memories. The trio were seen smiling for the camera as Brit posted in a pink belly top and small white shorts.

She wore shades as she stood in the middle of her two boys, who were matching in white t-shirts. Sean’s reunion with his mum comes after he had previously blocked an attempt by the star to spend the holidays together.

Sean instead spent the holidays in Louisiana with grandma Lynne Spears, aunt Jamie Lynn Spears and other members of the family. But now, it appears he is very much by his mum’s side and is ready to support her.

Last month, the songstress was handcuffed by the California Highway Patrol for Driving Under the Influence. Police said the singer “showed signs of impairment and submitted to a series of field sobriety tests” after being pulled over.

A spokesperson said at the time: “At approximately 8.48pm, a black BMW 430i was reported to the CHP’s Ventura Communications Centre for driving erratically at a high rate of speed on southbound US-101 near the Borchard Road exit in Newbury Park.”

Spears, who police said was alone in the car, was later arrested for “driving under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol” and taken to Ventura County Main Jail, north west of Los Angeles.

Britney will appear in court over the matter on May 4.

Shortly after the incident, the Toxic singer, 44, had initially deleted her Instagram profile – which previously consisted of provocative videos of the star dancing in lingerie – after her arrest. She instead decided to keep a low profile.

However, she returned and began showcasing her family life. As well as their boat ride, Britney posted two videos of herself with her rarely-seen son Jayden, 19, last month.

It’s claimed her ex Kevin Federline’s book had sent Britney on a “downhill spiral” in the months before her arrest. Britney and Kevin, 47, were married from 2004 until 2007. Kevin recently released his memoir You Thought You Knew, in which he made several bombshell claims about his ex-wife.
