Darren Day was rushed to A&E on Good Friday – just hours before he was due on stage for a performance. The singer, 57, is currently starring in a pantomime production of Mother Goose and was due on stage at the Roses Theatre in Tewkesbury.
But shortly before curtain up, Darren suffered an injury of some kind and had to be rushed to have emergency treatment as doctors suspected he had broken some bones.
He wrote on Instagram: “Currently sitting in A&E with suspected broken bones in my wrist and elbow! Just over an hour ‘til I’m on stage!” Upon revealing the news, Darren was immediately supported by celebrity pals in the comments of his post.

Former Coronation Street star Helen Flanagan, who is appearing alongside Darren in the panto, wrote: “Your the best Darren love you loads [heart emoji] xxx” (sic) and pop singer Debbie Gibson said: “Sending healing vibes.”
During his time on Celebrity Big Brother, Darren memorably appeared alongside TOWIE legend Gemma Collins in the house, and it was then that the reality star herself weighed in on the news, quoting a memorable line from scenes they appeared in together when she threatened to quit the show. She wrote: “I’M CLAUSTRAPHOBIC DARREN! [fire emoji, heart emoji]
Fans were also immediately concerned about Darren, who became known for starring in West End musicals like Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Grease before going onto reality television, and also sent their well wishes.
One wrote: “Oh no here’s hoping it’s not as bad as you think x,” and another said: “Ouch! Speedy recovery!” A third wrote: “I hope they can sort your arm out Darren and that you can get back to work. That’s going to hurt.”
It all comes just days after Darren, who had a brief relationship with Suzanne Shaw, 44, in the early 2000s and had son Corey, 21, with her became a grandfather. The pair famously fell out following their split but it looks like they’ve both buried the hatchet as they posed together to celebrate the new arrival of their grandson Colton.
Giving fans an update on the new family member, Darren quipped: “Grandad loves you so much…and is actually old enough to be a Grandparent, unlike Nanny! @suzi_shaw,” as he joked about the age gap between him and his ex
Suzanne penned a tribute to her new grandson, writing: “Something beautiful, something true, My baby boy Corey, became a father To a precious son, wrapped softly in blue. I remember the moment when you arrived, as if it were yesterday, you were so perfect, so full of light, you took my breath away.
“You came into my world, and changed me forever inside, gave my life a deeper meaning, filled my heart with pride. And now here you stand, a father so strong, so kind, holding your own little boy, a love like yours, I recognise.”
In a personal tribute, she added: “Wow what a day! Lost in pure love. Colton – I love you to infinity and back, you are perfect. I might not have reading glasses quite yet (like your grandad @darrendayofficial ), but can’t wait to teach you handstands and cartwheels.”
Darren and Suzanne dated in 2003, when he was still engaged to actress Adele Vellacot. He then split from Adele and Suzanne and Darren became an item and even got engaged after 18 months together.
In 2005, on Mother’s Day, Darren walked out on Suzanne and their son Corey. Following that, Suzanne moved on with her partner Sam, who she also has a child with, but they split just last month after 12 years together.
