Amid Selena Gomez’s Pregnancy Buzz, Did The Taki Taki Singer Say She’s ‘So Excited’ To Become A Mom?

Selena Gomez has been hogging the spotlight ever since her recent public appearance. On April 2, 2026, the singer was seen at the launch of her brand, Rare Beauty’s newest product, a foundation, in West Hollywood, Los Angeles. It didn’t take long for attention to shift from the product to what Selena was wearing. For the unversed, Selena stunned in a metallic pink Prada minidress from the brand’s Spring 2026 collection.

Eagle-eyed fans were quick to notice that the oversized dress marked a shift from her usual form-fitting outfits. Soon rumours about the 33-year-old being pregnant with her first child spread like wildfire. However, did you know that Selena has once admitted to being “so excited” to become a mom?

Last year, on March 24, 2025, Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco appeared as guests on the Jay Shetty Podcast. Here, the pop star discussed her love for children, especially after her now-husband, Benny, admitted that he couldn’t wait to show their joint album, I Said I Love You First, to their children someday. Selena said that while she obviously doesn’t know what will happen in the future, she does love children.

Referring to her younger sibling, Gracie, she said, “I have an 11-year-old sister that I absolutely adore.” Apparently, she loves making children laugh and finds them super sweet. Selena added, “So absolutely, when that day comes, I’m so excited for it.”  

Interestingly, Benny revealed that while Selena is “the ultimate level of shy,” it is quite the opposite when it comes to speaking with children. He said, “Whenever there’s kids at a place, it’s the only time I see her do that. She immediately goes to the kids and has these conversations for hours with the kids.” He went on to say that the reason Selena does this might have something to do with the fact that she is a former child star.

At the April 2, 2026, Rare Beauty foundation launch, Selena Gomez donned a loose-fitting metallic-pink dress. The photos from the event quickly made the rounds on social media, with netizens speculating that the Taki Taki singer chose the voluminous style to intentionally hide a baby bump. Well, the majority of her fans were excited at the prospect of Selena heading towards parenthood within a year of marrying music producer, Benny Blanco. For those unaware, it has been around 6 months since Selena married the love of her life, music producer, Benny Blanco.  

However, it is worth noting that, despite fans’ speculation, the claim that Selena is pregnant may not be true, given her health issues. While Selena has always been open about wanting her own children, she has publicly stated that she won’t be able to carry her own children due to a number of medical conditions that could potentially put her baby’s life at risk. Though when she is ready for a child, Selena is open to other paths to motherhood, like surrogacy and adoption. Selena shared the same during a candid conversation with Vanity Fair. Coming to her thoughts on adoption and surrogacy, the Only Murders In The Building star was quoted as saying: 

“It’s not necessarily the way I envisioned it. I thought it would happen the way it happens for everyone. I’m in a much better place with that. I find it a blessing that there are wonderful people willing to do surrogacy or adoption, which are both huge possibilities for me. It made me really thankful for the other outlets for people who are dying to be moms. I’m one of those people. I’m excited for what that journey will look like, but it’ll look a little different. At the end of the day, I don’t care. It’ll be mine. It’ll be my baby.”
