The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh reportedly wanted to use Wood Farm for their annual Easter break in Sandringham – but it is still being used by Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor

The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh had to change their Easter break plans at Sandringham due to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, it has been claimed.

Prince Edward and wife Sophie reportedly wanted to stay at Wood Farm during their regular Easter holiday to the King’s Norfolk estate, but were unable to due to the former Duke of York still being holed up in the property. It has been claimed that the royal couple has had to use a ‘holiday let’, instead of their original plans.

When Andrew was booted out of his 30-room Windsor mansion of Royal Lodge earlier this year, he temporarily moved into Wood Farm, the home where his late father, Prince Philip, spent most of his final years.

He will eventually move into Marsh Farm, another property on the Sandringham estate, which has undergone major renovations in recent months. But according to The Sun, the ex-prince is “dragging his heels” over the move to Marsh Farm, which was due to be completed around Easter.

This has forced Edward and Sophie to use another property – Garden House – for their Easter break, which can cost £4,110 a week in peak season. A source said: “Andrew was evicted from Royal Lodge at Windsor but now has two homes at his disposal. He is just going back and forth between Wood Farm and Marsh Farm. It’s got to be sorted as Edward and Sophie like to use Wood Farm.”

It comes as it was previously reported that Andrew’s younger brother, Edward, became the “first and only” relative of his to go and see Andrew in Sandringham, to have a “quiet word” about hurrying up his move to Marsh Farm. In recent weeks, there have been a number of deliveries at Marsh Farm, with removal workers seen taking boxes labelled ‘HRH’ into the property.

Meanwhile, new security fences have been erected, with a Sky TV engineer seen installing television and broadband services. Royal sources have confirmed that the King has met the refurbishment costs himself due to his brother’s wrecked finances.

In recent weeks, a mobile home was delivered to Sandringham and installed next to his new home of Marsh Farm. Sources have confirmed the luxury caravan will be used for security staff, paid for by the King, to stay over when needed.

It came after the King gave an order to his disgraced brother, which left aides in a race against time to remove any trace of the disgraced ex-royal from Royal Lodge. The monarch last month brought forward a deadline for the disgraced former Duke of York to clear the Windsor mansion of his belongings.

Last week, royal aides were clearing out the remaining possessions from Royal Lodge, including the staff quarters where Andrew was waited on night and day by royal flunkies. A number of skips were loaded and removed from the estate, with removal vans seen coming and going. Staff had also been setting fire to further unwanted belongings of their own.

The King commanded his shamed brother to leave the Windsor home he had lived in for over 20 years, paying a peppercorn rent after signing an initial lease worth £7.5million in 2002. Andrew has also been stripped by the King of his right to be a prince and his Dukedom over his association with paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein. He was arrested in February on suspicion of misconduct in public office. Andrew denies any wrongdoing.
