Rakesh Bedi On Pakistan Politician Nabil Gabol’s Lookalike Claims, ‘Father Didn’t Go To Pakistan..’

Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar 2 have left a serious impact not just in India but also in Pakistan. The characters’ portrayals and the ensemble cast’s performances have been widely discussed, especially Rakesh Bedi’s character, the neighbouring country’s politician, Nabil Gabol, who claims to be inspired by him. 

Rakesh Bedi responded to Nabil Gabol’s claims

Rakesh Bedi reacted to Nabil Gabol’s claims after a lot of chatter. The audience loved the character, and it became the most-talked-about part of the film. However, Nabil went on to claim that the character was on him. He had a problem with it, as in the sequel to the film ‘Jamali’, it turned out that he was an Indian agent, which triggered strong reactions. Soon, people started trolling the character, and it further angered Nabil Gabol. 

Addressing the controversy around the character’s portrayal, Rakesh Bedi first sent him love and stated that it was just a coincidence that he resembled him. He added that he cannot help it, as neither his father came to India nor his father went to Pakistan. He was quoted as saying:

“I would like to say, ‘I love you, Nabil Gabol.’ I love you very much, and it’s a coincidence that I resemble you a little bit. But I can’t help it. Neither your father came to India, nor my father went to Pakistan. But aside from our looks, we look alike; we have a slight heaviness in our bodies, which makes us look alike. I even wore similar clothes in the film, so we looked alike. Other than that there is no similarity between me and him.”

Rakesh Bedi firmly denied that the character was based on Nabil Gabol, but rather was inspired by many politicians from Pakistan. He further added that the character was written and given life by the writers and director, Aditya Dhar, rather than being an effort of one person. 

It is worth mentioning that Nabil Gabol had taken a pledge to make his own Dhurandhar movie with the title ‘Lyari ka Gabbar‘ to counter Aditya Dhar’s narrative. Talking about Nabil, he is a former member of Pakistan’s National Assembly. He had expressed anguish about how the character was inspired by him. But praised Rakesh Bedi’s acting.

When Chaudhary Aslam’s wife, Naureen, reacted to Sanjay Dutt’s portrayal of her husband

Not just Nabil Gabol but Chaudhary Aslam’s wife also talked about the film. She heaped praises on Sanjay Dutt’s acting in the film and how he portrayed the late Karachi police officer, Chaudhary Aslam Khan. His wife, Naureen, was left highly impressed. In a podcast with AajTak Radio, Naureen said:

“When he stands near the car and raises his eyes, for a moment it felt like Aslam himself. ”

Aditya Dhar’s directorial film, Dhurandhar 2, features Ranveer Singh, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi and Danish Pandor.
