Metallica won’t be relegated to just the Sphere this year.
On Monday, April 6, James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo announced they’ll perform two nights at Uncasville, CT’s 10,000-seat Mohegan Sun Arena in November to celebrate the venue’s 25th anniversary.
This will be the first time the Rock Hall of Famers have performed in the Constitution State since July 1998 when they headlined at Hartford’s Meadows Music Theater as part of their ‘Poor Re-Touring Me Tour.’
Now, a little more than 28 years later, they’ll return on:
Thursday, Nov. 19
8 p.m.
with Suicidal Tendencies
Saturday, Nov. 21
8 p.m.
with Spiritbox
As is standard for Metallica, their Thursday and Saturday shows will be totally different from one another. Since 2023, the group has been putting on “No Repeat Weekends” where they play a pair of wholly unique concerts with zero overlap to make sure they cover all the hits and deep cuts for fans.
Although we can’t guarantee what tracks the Rock Hall of Famers have planned for Mohegan Sun, Set List FM reports they typically rock biggies like “Master of Puppets,” “Seek & Destroy,” “Sad But True,” “Nothing Else Matters” and “Creeping Death” on night one while saving “Enter Sandman,” “One,” “Ride The Lightning,” “Whiplash” and “Blackened” for night two.
“If there’s one non-musical moment that’ll stick with us from the landmark first stop on [Metallica’s] M72 World Tour…[it’s that] at the end of 32 songs and well over four hours of music across two awesome nights, the 50,000+ punters in attendance were still baying for more,” Kerrang reported back in April 2023 about the first weekend of their now years-long international tour.
In addition to the short Uncasville visit, Metallica will also headline at Sphere as part of their ‘Life Burns Faster’ residency from October 2026 through March 2027.
Tickets officially go on sale to the general public for the Connecticut concerts on Friday, April 10 at 10 am local time through Ticketmaster but are available now on trusted secondary market sites like StubHub and Vivid Seats.

Metallica new music
On April 14, 2023, Metallica dropped their 11th studio album “72 Seasons.”
The thrumming, high-velocity record quickly sets the tone with the non-stop thrill ride title track and then refuses to let up throughout its healthy 77-minute runtime.
Indisputable highlights include the snaking “Sleepwalk My Life Away,” nakedly raw “You Must Burn!” and unrelenting “Lux Æterna.” Don’t expect a second to breathe; Metallica goes hard the entire time with nary a moment to rest. Just the way it should be.
To hear for yourself, you can listen to “72 Seasons” here.

Each night, Metallica is bringing a different special guest to Uncasville. To make sure you’re acquainted with their sounds, you can find their most-streamed tracks listed below.
