After the massive success of its recent re-release, the world of Tumbbad is officially expanding. Actor and producer Sohum Shah has thrilled fans by announcing the start of the shoot for the much-awaited sequel, Tumbbad 2. To mark the occasion, the makers shared a mahurat shot along with a gripping motion poster that has immediately sparked curiosity across social media.
Tumbbad has long been hailed as a cinematic masterpiece and one of the finest Hindi folklore fantasy films ever made. While it initially earned a dedicated cult following, its 2024 re-release solidified its legacy, remarkably becoming the second highest-grossing re-released Indian film. This renewed momentum has set the stage for the sequel, with fans excited for the same.
The newly released motion poster offers a glimpse into the dark, atmospheric world the franchise is known for. Featuring the idol of “Poorti Ki Devi,” the poster captures the mysterious and suspenseful energy of the film. One specific detail that has caught the audience’s attention is the haunting line, “प्रलय आयेगा” (The Apocalypse will come). This ominous warning suggests that something bigger is about to unfold in the second part, leaving fans wondering about the fate of the characters and the cursed village.
The project is being backed by Sohum Shah under his banner, Sohum Shah Films. Joining the team for the sequel is Pen Studios, headed by veteran producer Dr. Jayantilal Gada, the powerhouse behind major blockbusters like RRR and Gangubai Kathiawadi. The film is being directed by Adesh Prasad, while the distribution will be handled by Pen Marudhar.
With the muhurat puja complete and the shoot now officially underway, the makers have successfully set a high bar for the sequel. While the motion poster keeps the audience on the edge of their seats, it also confirms that the haunting folklore and unique storytelling of the original will continue to be the heart of Tumbbad 2.
