Vogue Williams has addressed the strange nature of comments about her appearance, just days before sharing a major personal announcement with husband Spencer Matthews
Model and presenter Vogue Williams has hit back at scrutiny around her weight on the latest episode of the My Therapist Ghosted Me podcast, which she co-hosts with Joanne McNally.
Vogue’s comments came following the publication of paparazzi photographs of her in a bikini alongside husband Spencer Matthews, while the couple enjoyed a family holiday in St. Barths earlier this week.
Vogue began speaking on the podcast about the changing nature of comments about her physical appearance, and how they had changed over time, particularly when it came to the fact she had gained some weight recently.
She said: “Do you know what’s interesting about it? And I’ve noticed it this time around. Like, I haven’t put on a load of weight. I’ve put on a few kilos. I have put on a few kilos, which is totally fine.
“When I’ve been away before, people are like, ‘Look at her body, look at her thighs, look at this and that. She’s disgusting. Look at her cellulite.’”
Vogue added: “And this time around… it’s actually slightly nicer because I put on a bit of weight and I think that people feel more comfortable seeing you like that or something.
“Well, certainly the people that are commenting, because the comments are nicer. ‘Oh she’s put on a bit of weight, she looks better’. But like, yeah, it’s just… it’s weird.”
Vogue’s comments came just days before she announced she’s expecting her fourth baby. Sharing the news on Instagram alongside a photograph of the couple on the beach, she wrote: “Baby number four incoming.”
In response, Spencer re-posted the snaps on his Instagram Story and wrote: “We’ve got some news.” The fourth child will join the pair’s other three children Theodore, Otto, and Gigi, who also featured in the post announcing the news.
Spencer and Vogue’s news came after Spencer spoke in greater depth about the impact of their first child on his and Vogue’s relationship.
Appearing on former Busted member Matt Willis’ podcast On The Mend, Spencer said: “The light was shined on my boozing when she fell pregnant with our first born Theodore.
“He made a big difference to our relationship, because what felt like joint fun became solo fun quite quickly because she stopped drinking completely obviously.
“And I just didn’t I just carried on and it created this divide in the relationship, but also made me realise maybe my drinking habits are not normal.”
