Hyderabad: The Telangana Socio-Economic, Educational, Employment, Political and Caste (SEEEPC) Survey of 2024 declared that one per cent of the entire state population has migrated from the state. Of them, more than 75 per cent migrated to other countries.
According to the data, one per cent of the population has migrated to either other states or other countries, with Jagtial and Narayanpet districts topping the migration rates with 1.9 per cent each. Additionally, Other Castes (OC) members constituted a majority of migrants, at 1.5 per cent of the total OC populace migrating from Telangana.
Out of the migrants, 75.3 per cent of the migrants went abroad to other countries around the world. Nizamabad district had the highest number of international migrants from Telangana with 90.3 per cent. BC-E category topped the international caste migration charts with 89.4 per cent of its total migrants moving abroad.
The United States is one of the most favoured destinations for international migrations among the Telangana populace, with 24 per cent of its migrant population moving there. The United Kingdom came in second with 23.6 per cent of the migrant population, while Gulf countries had a 17.8 per cent migration.
The survey also showed that 40.3 per cent of the total overseas migrations were for higher education, while 31.3 per cent were for employment, 2.1 per cent for business opportunities and 26.2 per cent for other reasons.
Suryapet district topped the list of migrations for higher education, with 55.5 per cent of its total international migrants going to pursue education internationally, with Jayashankar – Bhupalpally district coming close second with 55.3 per cent.
Komaram Bheem Asifabad district had the most migrants leave the district for employment, with 48.2 per cent of the total overseas migrants leaving for jobs and employment abroad. Kamareddy district had 46.3 per cent, and Nizamabad district had 45.7 per cent and stood second, respectively.
For business opportunities, however, the migration population percentages were low across the state. Nirmal district had 5.3 per cent of its total international migration population move for businesses, while Adilabad had 3.1 per cent and Rajanna Sircilla had 3 per cent. Jayashankar – Bhupalpally district and Jogulamba Gadwal districts had no population migrating internationally for business opportunities.
