In a heart-rending incident, a woman, unable to cope with the emotional trauma of being abandoned by her husband, poisoned her three children before ending her life by suicide.

The shocking incident, which unfolded over several days, ultimately claimed the lives of all four in Proddatur, leaving the entire locality in grief.

According to police, the victims were Bhuvaneswari and her three children. She was married to Siva Venkata Krishna, and the couple had been living in Eshwar Reddy Nagar area of Proddatur for several years.

Married for 14 years, the couple had three children.

However, their marital life soured nearly one-and-a-half years ago. Police said Siva Venkata Krishna developed an extramarital relationship and eventually left his wife and children. Since then, Bhuvaneswari had been struggling to raise her children single-handedly.

Adding to her distress, she was allegedly subjected to repeated humiliation from her in-laws, which further affected her mental state. Unable to bear the mounting pressure and isolation, Bhuvaneswari took the extreme step, said a police source.

On March 26, she allegedly mixed poison in a soft drink and administered it to her three children. After ensuring that they consumed it, she resorted to the extreme step.

Soon after, all four developed serious health complications and were rushed to hospital. While undergoing treatment in Kadapa, Bhuvaneswari succumbed on March 28.

The condition of the children remained critical, prompting doctors to shift them to Chennai for advanced medical care. Despite intensive treatment, their health did not improve.

In a tragic sequence, the second daughter, Likhita, died on April 10. The son, Gana, succumbed on April 15, and the eldest daughter, Kusuma, breathed her last on April 16.

Police had registered a case on March 26 and are continuing their investigation into all aspects of the incident.

One more dies in Kurnool road accident; toll rises to 9

The death toll in the ghastly road accident that occurred on April 16 near Chilakaladona in Mantralayam mandal of Kurnool district has risen to nine.

Tejaswini (19), who had been undergoing treatment for severe injuries at the hospital, died on Friday. She had sustained critical head injuries in the accident.

Earlier, eight persons died in the mishap.

The body was handed over to the family members on Friday morning after post-mortem.

The injured continued to receive treatment at the Kurnool GGH. Doctors said their condition was stable.
