TOWIE star Gemma Collins broke down and declared ‘I’m done’ after Harry Redknapp pranked campmates with fake late-night challenge on I’m A Celebrity South Africa
Reality TV personality Gemma Collins had viewers convinced she was bowing out of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! after uttering those infamous words in distress following a wind-up by ex-football boss Harry Redknapp.
Redknapp informed the celebrities they’d all need to participate in a late-night challenge called “prison of hell” – mere moments after returning to camp from completing another task during Friday evening’s episode.
The programme, an all-star version of the original set in South Africa, showed Collins collapsing to the ground, exclaiming: “I’m a celebrity, get me out of here. I’m done. I can’t do any more.”

The Only Way Is Essex personality wiped away tears and buried her face in her hands, while campmate Scarlett Moffatt watched in disbelief. Her emotional reaction came after she’d already broken down during Wednesday evening’s broadcast, telling former Emmerdale actor Adam Thomas: “I don’t think I can take it.”
However, Redknapp then revealed to the assembled campmates he’d been winding them up – there was no late-night challenge whatsoever.
“That was right up my street,” a clearly delighted Redknapp remarked. “A proper wind-up. They fell for it hook, line and sinker. Oh, it worked a treat.”
Gemma admitted that a prison-themed task would have pushed her beyond her limits.
“To me, it was claustrophic (sic). I would just have to say them fateful words,” she revealed. The episode also saw Collins speak candidly about body image pressures, telling Moffatt: “We’re under scrutiny all the time, and I never used to worry about it, but because everyone goes on about body image, this, that and the other, you then become like thinking you’re disgusting and ugly every day.
“Because of all the pressure and, you know, people saying horrible things. And actually, I’m just alright as I am.”
Gemma went on to say: “This is me. I get sick of it – this diet, that diet, this pen, that pen. You know, at the end of the day, I think we’ve just got to accept all of us come in different shapes and sizes, and we can all be beautiful in our own way. It’s really what’s in your heart.”
During Friday’s programme, which happened to coincide with Pussycat Doll Ashley James’s birthday, Olympic athletics legend Sir Mo Farah secured 10 stars for his fellow campmates in a challenging trial that required him to navigate through containers teeming with snakes, creepy-crawlies, and even a crocodile.
Later that evening, the celebrities competed in another challenge, attempting to keep a ball balanced in front of them for as long as possible – with campmates ultimately letting James triumph as a birthday gesture.
I’m A Celebrity… South Africa airs at 9pm on weekdays on ITV1, STV, ITVX and STV Player.
