GT Spinner, Rashid Khan Becomes A Father Amid IPL 2026, Welcomes ‘Little Prince’, Baby Azlan

Afghanistan’s star spin bowler, Rashid Khan, is known for his sharp bowling, witty googlies, and reliable captaincy when needed. The player has recently achieved a milestone, not in cricket, but off the field, in his personal life. Amid his ongoing run in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Rashid received his biggest trophy, his child. Happiness abounds for the Khan family as Rashid became a father. As the Gujarat Titans (GT) spinner embraced parenthood, his fans and fellow cricketers have all come together to share their heartiest congratulations for him and his family.

Rashid Khan became the father of a little prince

Rashid Khan has officially become a father to a baby boy. On April 14, 2026, he and his wife welcomed their “little prince,” whom they named Azlan Khan. Rashid shared the news with fans on Instagram, expressing deep gratitude and happiness. He thanked God and sought blessings for the newborn from his well-wishers. He introduced the little munchkin to the world by sharing a small piece of grey cloth that included a circular wooden brooch-like structure. The structure included the text, “Hello World My Name is…Azlan Khan” and included cute little symbols of clouds and a hot air balloon.

The symbols perfectly embodied the feelings of the new dad, who is currently over the moon since stepping into the new phase of life. Another slide of the Instagram carousel included a golden square customised item with the text, “Welcome Baby Azlan 2026” written on it, accompanied by the symbols of a father and a child on a cricket field wearing jersey no. 19, which Rashid Khan uses as his Afghanistan national cricket team jersey for ODI and T20I formats. The number represents Afghanistan’s Independence Day, and from now on, it will also remind him of his little one. Rashid Khan captioned the post as:

“Alhamdulillah Welcome to the world my little prince Keep us in your prayers.”

The bundle of joy arrived amid a busy period for Rashid, who has been competing in the IPL 2026 for the Gujarat Titans. He might provide the cricketer with his much-needed motivation, and we might see him return with a renewed vigour in GT’s next fixture against the Mumbai Indians, which is set to take place on April 20, 2026. Notably, it is not yet confirmed whether Rashid will return to his on-field duties immediately or take a brief break to be with his newborn child and his wife. Following their match with Mumbai, GT will take on RCB and CKS on April 24 and April 26, 2026, respectively.

Rashid’s supporters have accepted the little one as their own and showered him with immense love, just as they do with his father. Many have hailed the Afghan star spinner’s son as “junior Rashid” and filled his comment section with congratulatory messages. Several celebrities have also shared their love for the littlun, including cricketers like Khaleel Ahmeda and Azmat Omarzai, and other public figures like Aly Goni, Erin Holland, Jatin Sapru and Aamir Ali.

Eight months before embracing parenthood, Rashid Khan began another new chapter of life

Rashid Khan officially confirmed his second marriage on November 11, 2025, after a photo of him with a woman at a charity event in the Netherlands went viral. He clarified on his Instagram account that the woman in the photograph is his wife, whom he married on August 2, 2025. Rashid has not officially disclosed her name or profession to respect her privacy. However, she is reportedly of Afghan origin. Regarding Rashid’s first marriage, it took place in October 2024 in a grand ceremony in Kabul, where he and his three brothers tied the knot on the same day. His first wife is reportedly his maternal cousin.
