‘Reminders Of Him’ Ending Explained, Will ‘Kenna’ Finally Reunite With Daughter, ‘Diem’? Find Out

Reminders of Him, the American romantic film, is a box office hit. Based on a 2022 novel by Colleen Hoover, Reminders of Him was released on March 13, 2026, in US theatres. Recently, the 2026 film starring Maika Monroe in the lead role made its way to the OTT streaming platform, Amazon Prime Video. Yes, you read it right. From April 14, 2024, Reminders of Him is available for rent on Amazon Prime Video. Amid the buzz, let’s find out what happens at the end of the film.

‘Kenna’ serves a six-year sentence for allegedly killing her boyfriend, ‘Scotty Landry’

The story of Reminders of Him revolves around ‘Kenna Rowan’ (played by Maika Monroe), who returns to her hometown after serving six years in jail. She was put behind bars on the charges of killing her boyfriend, ‘Scotty Landry’ (played by Rudy Pankow), who died in a car crash. While ‘Kenna’ was in prison, she discovered that she was pregnant. However, she was forced to hand over the baby girl, ‘Diem’, to ‘Scotty’s’ parents, ‘Grace’ (played by Lauren Graham) and ‘Patrick Landry’ (played by Bradley Whitford). 

The ‘Landry’ family raised ‘Diem’ and kept her away from her mother, ‘Kenna’, as they held her responsible for their son, ‘Scotty’s’ death. Alongside ‘Grace’ and ‘Patrick’, ‘Diem’ was also raised by ‘Scotty’s’ best friend, ‘Ledger Ward’ (played by Tyriq Withers). ‘Ledger’ is a former NFL player and has never met ‘Kenna’. After her release from jail, ‘Kenna’ goes to her and ‘Scotty’s’ favourite bookstore cum cafe, which has turned into a bar owned by ‘Ledger’. ‘Kenna’ and ‘Ledger’ cross paths and instantly get drawn to each other. Soon, ‘Kenna’ restarts her life from scratch and moves into a low-income housing complex.

‘Kenna’ starts to search for work, and repeatedly her applications get rejected due to her criminal record. Eventually, she lands a job at a convenience store. Meanwhile, ‘Kenna’ and ‘Ledger’ have bonded well. He informs ‘Grace’ and ‘Patrick’ that ‘Kenna’ has returned to the town. Fearing that ‘Kenna’ might take her daughter, ‘Diem’, back, the ‘Landry’ family file a restraining order against her. Taking his friend, ‘Roman’s’ advice, ‘Ledger’ sympathises with ‘Kenna’, who informs him that she had no role in ‘Scotty’s’ accident.

Did ‘Kenna’ kill her boyfriend, ‘Scotty’? (Spoilers ahead)

Recalling the doomed night, ‘Kenna’ said to ‘Ledger’ that she and ‘Scotty’ left to spend some quality time after celebrating his birthday with his parents. They went for a swim and later shared a joint. Kenna highlighted that when ‘Scotty’ drove back home, they were both high. When their car met with an accident, ‘Kenna’ got out of the car to seek help for ‘Scotty’. However, she couldn’t save him as he passed away due to a concussion. Later, police revealed that ‘Scotty’ was alive when ‘Kenna’ left the accident spot. The authorities alleged that ‘Kenna’s’ attempt to flee proved her conviction.

After learning the truth, ‘Ledger’ allows ‘Kenna’ to meet her daughter, ‘Diem’. However, things turn worse when ‘Patrick’ gives a surprise visit to ‘Ledger’s’ house and finds out ‘Kenna’ is playing with ‘Diem’. Following this, they cut ties with him. On the other hand, ‘Kenna’ decides to leave the town to protect ‘Ledger’s’ bond with ‘Diem’. ‘Ledger’ tries his best to mend the gap between ‘Kenna’ and ‘Scotty’s’ parents and gives them her journal where she recorded the devastating night.

After reading her journal, ‘Grace’ and ‘Patrick’ understood that ‘Kenny’ was not responsible for ‘Scotty’s’ death. Thus, ‘Grace’ visits ‘Kenna’ and apologises to her and invites her for dinner. Keeping ‘Grace’s’ request, ‘Kenna’ visits the ‘Landrys’ house. She spends time with her daughter, ‘Diem’. Later, the family reconcile with ‘Kenna’. The romantic film ends with ‘Ledger’ taking ‘Kenna’ and her daughter, ‘Diem’, to the accident spot to place the cross that was earlier removed by ‘Kenna’.
