Former N-Dubz star, Tulisa Contostavlos, has opened up about her health in a candid Instagram post in which she discusses ‘the highs and lows’ of her ‘crazy life’
Singer, Tulisa, has made a candid admission about her health in a worrying update. The former N-Dubz star, 37, took to Instagram in a bid to be ‘more authentic’ as she told her followers she had suffered a Bell’s palsy attack and short-term paralysis.
Tulisa was fist diagnosed with the condition, which causes temporary weakness or lack of movement on one side of the face, in 2020. Sharing that she suffered the attack after finding out a close friend had been diagnosed with cancer, the London-born star also revealed she had been forced to delay her egg retrieval as she deals with her “crazy life experiences”.
Taking to Instagram, updating her legion of loyal fans and sharing a snap of herself flashing the peace sign with a visibly swollen eye, Tulisa said: “Trying to turn my Insta into a place of authenticity. All that crazy life experience into a bit of inspo and tools for others. Which includes sharing my highs and the lows!”
Admitting she’d been having nicotine withdrawals after giving up smoking for two months before being forced to postpone her egg retrieval, she continued: “This week/month had challenges: Nicotine Withdrawals: HELLISH, but I’m now two months cig free.
“Hormonal Roller Coaster: Cancelled my recent egg retrieval due to low count(Not surprised with how my body felt). Frustrating but ok due to previous great success. Stress/hormones/nicotine withdrawals have been crazy.”
The singer also shared how she’d had three cysts removed, which were believed to have caused the Bell’s palsy, explaining: “Surgery Success: Last three cysts removed by Darrylc Coombes who years ago discovered the cysts causing my swelling and Bell’s palsy. Now cyst/swell free. Big thanks to Dr.Al when other doctors looked at me like I was crazy and must have have had too much filler. What a journey.”
Tulisa continued: “The Big Hit: Same day as surgery, learned my soul sis Shelly has an aggressive cancer and will now start chemo/radiotherapy. Still processing. She’s a fighter, the fight continues. The news after post surgery effects/drugs led me to be sick and pressure from throwing up caused a Bell’s palsy attack.”
Suggesting her minor paralysis would last for a week, she added: “Left my steroids in Manny but got some within 24hrs, so minor paralysis will last a week or so.”
Despite her health concerns and sad news about friend, Shelley, Tulisa, who left I’m A Celeb prematurely after admitting to being “overwhelmed” by the attention, concluded her post positively, signing off: “Less sob story, more reminder we’re all human, going through challenges, even when it looks shiny from the outside.
“The positives: Shelly is strong and fighting. Cig free! Now got double the amount of eggs. Happy on my business front. My inner work over the past six months has helped build a better baseline. Even in lows, I bounce back quicker.
“My improved emotional/nervous system regulation allows me to feel without staying stuck. Life isn’t constant happiness, it’s a series of ups & downs that define being ALIVE.”
