Patrick Muldoon Passed Away At 57, Soap Opera Stardom On ‘Days of Our Lives,’ Film Roles, And More

Patrick Muldoon recently passed away on April 19, 2026. The actor and producer was 57 years old. He suffered a heart attack, which led to his demise, as reported by Deadline. An official announcement is awaited from Patrick’s family members about the other details related to the circumstances resulting in his death. Patrick Muldoon used to play football during his childhood

Although Patrick Muldoon was associated with the world of films and television for a long time, his early life was completely different. Notably, his father and grandfather pursued careers as lifeguards. Patrick told the Los Angeles Times in 2012 that the men in his family were interested in weightlifting. Patrick was 6 years old when he began playing football and later started boxing and martial arts. He additionally started doing a combat system developed by the Israeli army, called Krav Maga. He further stated:

“I go in spurts. I like to switch things up every couple of months so I don’t get bored and to give that part of my body a rest. I’ll hit boxing hard for two months and then switch to Krav Maga, then I’ll go into weight training for two months. I got into lifting weights mostly for football. It’s hard for me to lift weights for cosmetic reasons. For me weights always had to have some kind of athletic purpose.”

Patrick Muldoon was featured on Days of Our Lives for a long time

While Patrick Muldoon had many films and TV shows to his credit, he became a popular face for his appearance on Days of Our Lives. Notably, he started portraying ‘Austin Reed’ in 1992 and continued playing the role until 1995. He returned to the show after many years in 2011 and appeared as ‘Austin Reed’ once again until 2012.

Notably, Patrick Muldoon opened up on why he was not satisfied with his return to the show when he spoke to Soap Opera Digest in 2012. Patrick said he was supposed to return as a romantic hero, considering that his role was the same when he left the show. Muldoon added:

“What I walked back into was pretty much the disintegration of Austin. Not one thing went right for him. I thought that was out of the ordinary and pretty creative. Truthfully, Austin and Carrie had to be broken up anyway for story. But in the back of my head, when I would get the scripts, I was always waiting for that turn where the character would be allowed to be heroic and not passive. That’s who Austin was when I originally played him.”

Patrick Muldoon was a part of multiple television movies in his career

Patrick Muldoon made his debut on the small screen during the ‘90s, playing minor roles on Who’s the Boss, Saved by the Bell, and Silk Stalkings. In 1997, he portrayed ‘Zander Barcalow’ in the cult classic science fiction film, Starship Troopers. He additionally appeared as ‘Richard Hart’ in Melrose Place from 1995 to 1996. Patrick was a part of several television movies at the same time, including Chain of Command, A Boyfriend for Christmas, Ice Spiders, Point of Entry, All About Christmas Eve, Holiday Trip, Turbulent Skies, and more.
