Meghan Markle wore the ‘stunning’ gold teardrop earrings to visit Sydney Opera House during her Australian tour with Prince Harry, and they’re surprisingly affordable
When it comes to accessories, Meghan Markle knows the power of investing in simple, timeless pieces that you can wear for every occasion. During her recent tour in Australia with Prince Harry, Meghan opted for a pair of classic gold teardrop earrings whilst visiting the Sydney Opera House and meeting with survivors of the Bondi beach terror attack.
Her earrings have a similar style to Bottega Veneta’s £700 Drop Earrings but we tracked down her exact ones, and they happen to be much more affordable. Meghan’s earrings are The Drop Earrings from Essen the Label, which you can pick up for just £125.

Meghan paired her earrings with a striped shirt and cream trousers, and the overall look was the perfect example of a timeless style. Her The Drop Earrings were just the right accessory to complete her outfit, bringing some subtle elegance without being over the top or making too much of a statement for such an important meeting.
You can choose from either gold or silver, with the silver pair coming in a little cheaper at £115. The gold earrings are made from brass and recycled 18ct gold, whilst the silver ones are 925 sterling silver.
Each of The Drop Earrings measures 17mm long and 20mm wide, but weigh just 13.5g each so they won’t be uncomfortable or weigh your lobes down. Although at the front they look like the Bottega ones, they have a more secure fit with a chunky back that creates more of a hoop look from the side.
You can even attach the earrings to your sandal straps to create a chic look, giving you multiple ways of wearing them. The clever clasp means they stay secure, so you can add them to the straps of just about any sandals if you want (or any shoes you can get them to fix to).
If you do prefer the style of the Bottega ones, we’ve spotted some similar designs elsewhere. The Teardrop Ear Studs from Wolf & Badger have the same droplet design, with a standard butterfly back and an ultra-affordable price tag of just £31 (down from £38).
Meanwhile at Mejuri, the Mega Dôme Earrings are now 20% off, down from £268 to £214.40. They’re also available in both silver and gold, and are made with thick 18k gold plating on silver.
However Meghan’s The Drop Earrings are the perfect purchase if you want to invest in top good quality without breaking the bank. They’ve been well praised by shoppers too, who love the style and design of them.
One said: “Love these stunning silver earrings. Perfect for a glam day but not too big. They’re going in my travel jewelry bag as they’re so versatile. The unusual closure backing creates a beautiful side view. Very pleased with my purchase.”
Whilst another wrote: “Marre’s customer service is unparalleled! I had bought the sandals in a local shop (and the earrings online), only to find that the strap was a bit too tight for my wide feet. I contacted Marre and she happily offered to send me longer straps so my sandals would fit perfectly and comfortably.”
One did mention, however: “Good quality and nice size but are quite heavy to wear. Look great attached to the evening sandals.”
