Another worker dies on a job site in less than a week

A man involved in a forklift incident south-east of Brisbane on Monday has died, authorities have confirmed, marking the second fatality on a worksite in the past week.

Emergency services were called to a quarry on West Mount Cotton Road in Sheldon just after 2.20pm to treat a man who had suffered life-threatening injuries.

Resources Safety and Health Queensland confirmed on Tuesday the man had died and said investigations into the incident were under way.

“Our thoughts are with the worker’s family, friends and colleagues during this difficult time,” an RSHQ spokesperson said.

“As this is an active investigation, no further comment can be made at this time.”

It is the second fatality on a worksite in the Greater Brisbane region in less than a week.

On Friday, a man died after he was crushed by two trucks at a job site on Wynnum Road in Tingalpa.

Police attended the scene and Workplace Health and Safety Queensland was now investigating.
