St. John’s is still shooting high to bolster its frontcourt.

In addition to Arizona State center Massamba Diop, who is expected to visit at some point this week, the Johnnies are now considered a major player for Syracuse transfer Donnie Freeman.

The 6-foot-9 Freeman visited Kentucky last week, and the Wildcats were supposed to be the heavy leader after visits to Connecticut and Alabama were called off. But St. John’s got into the picture over the weekend and now is viewed by some as the favorite.

Freeman averaged 16.5 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists last season for Syracuse. A coach familiar with Freeman called him a first-round talent who can score at all three levels.
