A former X Factor star has been charged with attempted murder after a car hit pedestrians – leaving one woman fighting for her life.

The Metropolitan Police said a woman in her 30s remains in a life-threatening condition and a man in his 50s suffered life-changing injuries after they were hit by a car in Westminster early on Sunday morning. A second woman in her 30s suffered minor injuries.

Gabrielle Carrington, 29, from Manchester, has been charged with attempted murder, grievous bodily harm with intent, actual bodily harm and drink driving, police said this evening.

Carrington, reached the X Factor live finals in 2013 as a member of the girl group Miss Dynamix, and has since launched a career as an influencer under the username RielleUK.

As a teenager, Carrington made it to the live finals of X Factor as part of Miss Dynamix, a girl group formed by Gary Barlow in the early stages of the 2013 competition.

They were eliminated from the competition in Week 3, performing a rendition of ‘Don’t You Worry Child’ by Swedish House Mafia in the sing-off.

After the group was voted off the show, Carrington told the Xtra Factor show: “We’ve never been satisfied so far but our sing-off, that was Miss Dynamix. That was us.”

The group split in 2014, and in a farewell message Carrington wished her former bandmates the “best of luck in everything”.

Influencer career

In recent years, Carrington has pursued a career as an influencer, with over 362,000 followers on Instagram.

Images on her profile ‘RielleUK’ show her on luxury holidays to Mexico, Jamaica, and France, eating at restaurants, and promoting her haircare brand.

Her most recent post, from a trip to Mykonos, is captioned: “Prettiest problem”.

Arrest and charge

Carrington has been charged after a collision outside a Soho nightclub that left three people injured.

The incident occurred at approximately 4.30am on Sunday (April 19) on Argyll Street, close to the Inca nightclub, when a vehicle struck pedestrians. Three people were hurt, including and two women and a man in his 50s who had been unlocking his e-scooter.

A woman in her 30s remains in a “life-threatening condition”. Police said the man sustained “life-changing injuries” and was transported to hospital, while one woman, thought to be in her 30s, was treated for less severe injuries.

Carrington has been charged with attempted murder, grievous bodily harm with intent, actual bodily harm and drink driving. She has been remanded in custody pending her initial appearance at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
