Salman Khan is gearing up to release his new film Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace. While several songs and clips have released from the film, fans can see a major transformation of the star. The full-blown physical transformation has made fans curious, who are now eager to know about their fitness regime.
As per a recent report by Hindustan Times, Salman has trained by pushing his limits in the extreme high-altitude conditions of Ladakh. The report states that he went through an intense calisthenics-driven routine. It suggests that he has combined “intense endurance drills with heavy weight sessions.” It is reportedly one of the most grueling fitness regimens he has taken on in recent years.
“During a 45-day schedule in Ladakh, the superstar adopted a calisthenics-based fitness routine to maintain his physique, as it was difficult to carry a full gym setup at such high-altitude shooting locations,” the report further adds.
What is Calisthenics-based fitness?
Calisthenics-based fitness focuses on building strength, flexibility, balance and endurance using your own body weight rather than external equipment. It typically includes foundational exercises like the push-up, pull-up, squat and plank, which train multiple muscle groups through natural movement patterns. As you advance, it can incorporate more complex skills such as the Muscle-up and Handstand, along with mobility and coordination work, making it a well-rounded, functional approach to fitness that can be practiced almost anywhere.

Salman Khan had once opened up about the intense action scenes in the movie. During an interview with PTI, he had mentioned, “It is physically demanding. Every year, every month, every day it gets more and more difficult. I’ve to give more time now (for training). Earlier, I would do it (train) in one or two weeks, now I’m running, kicking, punching, and all that stuff. This film demands that.”
