Amaravati: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will lay the foundation stone for a ₹5,400 crore plant by ReNew Energy Global at Rambilli in Anakapalli district on Thursday, marking a significant push to industrial growth in North Andhra.
As part of the project, the company will establish a 6 GW solar ingot-wafer manufacturing unit with an investment of ₹4,200 crore, along with a 125 MW hybrid captive renewable power project worth ₹1,200 crore. Both projects are expected to be completed within two years.
With this development, Anakapalli is poised to further strengthen its position as a key industrial hub in Andhra Pradesh. The district has already drawn national and global attention following the foundation of the ArcelorMittal steel plant, and this latest investment is expected to enhance its industrial profile.
Amid growing global focus on clean energy, the state government is prioritising renewable energy investments. ReNew Energy Global, a leading player in the sector with 19.2 GW capacity across India, is expanding its footprint in the state through this project.
The initiative is expected to generate around 2,100 jobs, offering employment opportunities for local youth. The government aims to transform Andhra Pradesh into a renewable energy hub, driving growth across industrial, agricultural and service sectors.
During the CII Partnership Summit 2025 held in Visakhapatnam last November, ReNew Energy Global announced plans to invest ₹82,000 crore in the state in phases. The company is also preparing to launch another major hybrid renewable energy project worth ₹22,000 crore in Anantapur district.
ReNew first entered Andhra Pradesh in 2015 during the TDP regime with a wind project at Kalyandurg. It currently operates renewable energy plants in the state with a capacity of 717 MW wind and 60 MW solar power.
Since the coalition government assumed office, North Andhra has witnessed a surge in investments, with projects by Cognizant and Tata Consultancy Services underway. A major investment by Google is also expected soon.
Infrastructure development is also gaining momentum, with the Bhogapuram International Airport nearing completion, alongside growth in tourism and spiritual sectors.
As per the schedule, the Chief Minister will attend the foundation ceremony at 11:10 a.m. and return to Amaravati by 2:35 p.m.
