While Hulk’s successful journey in the ring was a result of his training, his strong physical appearance was reportedly linked to the use of steroids. The new Netflix documentary featured Hulk claiming that the use started in 1971, a few years after he graduated. Vince McMahon’s docuseries, Mr. McMahon, also premiered on Netflix in 2024. Vince recalled the time when Hulk Hogan spoke on The Arsenio Hall Show, saying that on the same day of the interview, he had clarified at a press conference that he was not taking steroids. Vince said that he wanted all the accusations against Hogan to be cleared, which eventually did not happen. Hulk, who was also featured in the documentary, recalled Vince’s reaction by saying:

“I remember talking to Vince about going on Arsenio Hall. He thought it was a really bad idea…. “I self destructed my own self. That was one of the worst decisions I ever made, not listening to Vince.”
