Brides on a budget might want to snap up Frankie Bridge’s Devil Wears Prada 2 premiere dress, which is on sale for under £150 but looks designer

When planning a wedding your dress can end up being one of the biggest expenses you have to worry about, but thankfully the high street has got the memo. Rather than splashing out thousands of pounds, there’s now plenty of beautiful designer-looking dresses you can snap up that are perfect for weddings on budget – and if you needed any more convincing, just look at Frankie Bridge’s recent red carpet outfit.

Frankie attended the UK premiere of The Devil Wears Prada 2 wearing a floor length white maxi dress from Karen Millen, and it’s not hard to see why it would make a stunning wedding dress on a budget. Although not technically designed as a wedding gown, the Soft Tailored One Shoulder Cape Sleeve Maxi Dress combines elegance, timelessness and style – all for under £150.

Frankie’s Cape Sleeve Maxi Dress is usually priced at £259 – still much more affordable than a standard wedding dress – but is now on sale with 30% off, bringing it down to £181.30. However, if you use the code KMEXTRA20 you’ll get an extra 20% off on top of its sale price, bringing it down to just £145.04 – more than £100 off.

The dress is also available in forest green, but the white version is ideal if you’re trying to organise your big day without spending too much money. It has a floor-skimming maxi length that includes a side split for easy movement and to stop it feeling too stuffy or rigid.

Its silhouette has been tailored throughout with subtle gathering around the waist for a flattering fit that accentuates your waist. However it’s the neckline and shoulders which really make this a stand out style.

The Cape Sleeve Maxi Dress features a high neckline, with a one-shoulder design that’s elegant and refined. The shoulder also features a cape sleeve detail which drapes over one arm and reaches the floor to create a flowing train. It’s currently still in stock in sizes six to 14 but is starting to sell out in some sizes, not to mention the orange version is now completely out of stock.

The high street has stepped up its bridal game in recent years, with many brands now offering affordable alternatives to a traditional wedding dress. At ASOS, this Square Neck Structured Full Skirt Midi Wedding Dress is just £185 but has a beautiful, timeless design.

Meanwhile at Nobody’s Child, the Bridal Ivory Satin Open Back Long Sleeve Isadora Maxi Dress is now £200 down from £250, and has a more understated, elegant fit. Coast shoppers can now get the Honoured Premium Crepe Plunge Neck Fishtail Wedding Dress on sale too, as it’s slashed from £149 to £134.10.
