Kakinada:Prohibition and Excise Commissioner Chamakuri Sridhar has warned Station House Officers of excise police stations of strict departmental action for failing to curb violations and meet enforcement targets in their jurisdictions.

The commissioner conducted an SHO-wise review meeting covering excise operations in the Eluru and Rajamahendravaram regions, focusing on performance in Eluru, Bhimavaram, Kakinada, Konaseema and East Godavari districts. The review covered illegal liquor control, digital monitoring and revenue protection.

He assessed the performance of each SHO individually and reviewed crime control measures, particularly cases of illicitly distilled liquor and illegal belt shops in their respective areas. Staff strength at police stations and its effective utilisation for raids and patrolling were also examined.

The commissioner reviewed case detection and follow-up action against repeat offenders and smugglers. He said any rise in crime without matching enforcement would be viewed seriously.

A key focus of the meeting was implementation of the Surakshaa App. He directed all SHOs to ensure 100 per cent scanning compliance, stating that the app enabled real-time tracking of liquor movement from depots to consumers. Any mismatch between stock offtake and scanned sales at shops and bars would be closely monitored.

He also instructed officers to conduct surprise inspections at liquor shops and bars to ensure compliance with rules, including timings and capacity limits. Collection of liquor samples for chemical analysis was also ordered to prevent sale of adulterated products.

Senior officials, including deputy commissioner Sreelatha and assistant commissioner Prabhu Kumar, attended the meeting.
