Stacey Solomon opted against taking on a lucrative deal to appear in The Celebrity Traitors with her reason for not wanting to take part a very clear indicator of her personality
Stacey Solomon turned down the opportunity to appear on The Celebrity Traitors in a highly lucrative deal over fears that she would be a failure on the show.
The Sort Your Life out star was left convinced that she wouldn’t be able to put on a convincing performance of cheating and lying and would therefore flop at the game. BBC executives were reportedly keen to sign her up to be in the star-studded line-up for the second season but she was not on board with the idea.
Stacey, 36, instead opted to turn down the opportunity which was presented to her as one of the BBC’s key roster of favourite famous faces. A source said: “Stacey was flattered to be asked but she didn’t want to do the Traitors as she knows it is so reliant on being able to strategise and lie and cheat convincingly.
They added to The Sun, “That’s just not Stacey so she didn’t think it would be the right fit for her.” Stacey has joined the likes of Ricky Gervais and Jeremy Clarkson in turning down an appearance on The Celebrity Traitors.
The Clarkson’s Farm star admitted he was way too busy to consider an appearance. He said: “I wouldn’t in a million years. I’ve got ten jobs already why would I want 11?”
It comes after Stacey and her former EastEnders star husband Joe Swash, 44, cleared up rumours about their marriage as they confirmed the future of their reality show. The pair have been hitched since 2022, but fans began to suggest that things had gone awry when she was spotted without her wedding ring.
Stacey shot down the rumours, and it then emerged that even though the pair had tied the knot at a ceremony in their home, known as Pickle Cottage, it was still not legally binding, and the pair insisted that this was just something they had not got round to in the four years since, although their relationship remains stronger than ever.
After shooting to fame on The X Factor in 2009, Stacey, who placed third behind Olly Murs and Joe McElderry, won I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! and went on to an illustrious career in presenting with Loose Women, and the BAFTA-winning Sort Your Life Out, amongst a host of other titles, before she and her husband began to front Stacey & Joe in 2025 for the BBC.
Over the course of two series, cameras followed the busy lives of Stacey and Joe, who juggle the ups and downs of family life with their busy careers.
Now, it has been confirmed that the duo have signed on to appear in a third series of the show, with the outlet reporting that it will document Joe’s efforts to build a fishing lake at the family home.
