Wife, Lover Held For Hiring Gang To Kill Husband

ANANTAPUR: Proddatur police in Kadapa district have busted a murder conspiracy and arrested a woman, her alleged lover and members of a hired gang for allegedly plotting to kill her husband following an extramarital affair.

According to police, the accused woman, Shilpa, conspired with her alleged lover Sudheer to eliminate her husband Eswar Reddy. The duo allegedly struck a deal with a contract gang for Rs 10 lakh to carry out the murder and paid an advance of ₹5 lakh. Police said Shilpa arranged the advance amount by pledging her gold ornaments.

The gang allegedly attempted to kill Eswar Reddy by ramming him with a car in Proddatur town. When the attempt failed, the assailants chased him with knives and iron rods. The victim, however, managed to escape and approached Proddatur I Town police.

Acting on information, Additional Superintendent of Police Vibhu Krishna alerted police teams. A team led by I Town Circle Inspector Kondareddy apprehended 11 accused near Ayyappa Swamy temple on Yerraguntla Road in Proddatur on Friday.

Police said those arrested included Shilpa, Sudheer and members of the hired gang. They seized knives, daggers, iron rods, ₹5 lakh in cash, two cars and 10 mobile phones from the accused.

Kadapa district Superintendent of Police Shelkhe Nachiket Vishwanath appreciated the police team for cracking the case and preventing the planned murder.
