The sudden death of actor Darrell Sheets has left the industry shocked and disturbed, but when it comes to his close ones, they might have seen it coming. The longtime Storage Wars fan favorite died on April 22, 2026, in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, in what authorities describe as an apparent suicide.

The 67-year-old actor’s close ones have since spoken up about the emotional toll he endured in his final years. In a new interview, Sheets’ co-stars painted a far more complex and heartbreaking picture of what led up to that fateful day.

In a recent interview with Us Weekly, actress Laura Dotson and her husband, Dan Dotson, opened up about Darrell Sheets’ heartbreaking final years. The Storage Wars stars revealed how, besides his own mental struggles, Sheets had been terrified of cyber stalkers and bullies, wondering why he was being targeted. Laura told the outlet:

“His family told us that this has been happening for three years. [It happens to] even strong men that you think aren’t gonna get their feelings hurt. Cyberbullying is a real thing. This made him feel less than, and it really obviously bothered him. He was terrified for his life [and] for the people around him. He didn’t know why he was being targeted.”

The fear was apparent in Sheets’ own posts as well. Weeks before his death, the actor had posted about being a target of cyberstalking and even called out his alleged bullies on Facebook. He claimed someone had hacked his account and was spreading damaging rumours using his name. The situation allegedly spiraled further. Sheets said people began showing up at his workplace, some with harmful intentions, believing the false claims tied to him. The post read:

“I have been hacked by a very evil person. The clown. [The posts] are not done by me, they are being done by … very evil people. I’m not gay; I have made no posts about any children’s arcade owner, etc. I’m extremely sorry and sick over this.”

In another post, dated March 11, 2026, Sheets made a public post revealing the identity of his alleged “cyberbully stalker”. He mentioned that the individual had targeted not just him, but others in his community as well. He alleged the person had even extorted money from local businesses while impersonating him. The actor wrote:

“Well people here is my cyber bully stalker. He has been going after other small businesses in town and harassing them using my name. It is not me. He has extorted money from many people in this town acting like a handyman. This has been going on for 3 years with him and the things he says are very damaging. This is a felony called cyber bullying.”

Hours after Darrell Sheets’ death, his Storage Wars co-star shared a video claiming Sheets had been dealing with an online bully. He said a man had been targeting Sheets for months, with the star posting about it frequently. Police confirmed awareness of the allegations, and the Lake Havasu City Police Department is now actively investigating the cyberbullying claims.

The initial ruling suggests Sheets died from suicide, but the investigation has been ongoing. Reflecting on this tragedy, Laura and Dan noted that while the Storage Wars star had been struggling with other stuff, including health and relationships, he was not someone who could commit suicide. According to his co-stars, he had previously struggled to understand how anyone could take their own life. This is what makes his passing more heartbreaking. Laura told Us Weekly:

“[He] truly, truly was a wonderful, loving person who believed in God… He says, ‘I can’t believe anybody that could do that [kill oneself]. They must have so much pain.’ So it was so hard for us to really believe that this happened.”
