Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has expressed his indignation over the attack on toll gate staff allegedly by supporters of Kalyandurg Telugu Desam MLA Amilineni Surendra Babu. Officials
Naidu on Sunday asked officials to initiate stringent action against those involved.
The incident occurred on Saturday near Gandaboyinapalle on the Madanapalle–Tirupati highway in Annamayya district. A heated argument broke out between the toll gate personnel and the MLA’s aides, which escalated into a physical assault on the staff.
Reacting sharply, the CM said no individual or group would be allowed to take the law into their hands. The police must promptly register cases against those responsible and ensure strict legal action, he said.
The toll gate staff, who are tasked with regulating traffic and collecting user fees, were reportedly subjected to intimidation and violence during the altercation.
Sources said the arguments began over oll payment, but how the scenario worsened would be investigated. The confrontation disrupted traffic on the busy highway for some time.
Reiterating his government’s commitment to upholding the rule of law, Naidu warned that such acts of indiscipline and aggression would not be tolerated irrespective of political affiliations. He emphasised that public representatives and their associates must act responsibly and set an example for citizens.
