Jacqueline Falk, the daughter of the late Columbo star Peter Falk, was found at a Los Angeles residence, according to medical examiner records.

Jacqueline Falk, the daughter of the late Columbo star Peter Falk, has died at the age of 66, as the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed she died by suicide.

Falk was found at a residence in Los Angeles on Monday, April 27, and it is unclear at this time if she left a note behind to her loved ones.

Jacqueline was adopted by the Columbo star and his first wife, Alyce Moyo, whom he met at college and married in 1960. While they were together, the couple adopted two sisters, Jacqueline (known as Jackie) and Catherine.

The couple divorced in 1976, with Peter marrying actress Shera Danese in 1977. Peter died in 2011 at the age of 83, years after being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and dementia. In 2016, Mayo died at the age of 85.

Jacqueline’s death was reported by TMZ, which confirmed that an investigation into her death has been opened. Falk is survived by her sister, Catherine Falk-Rothchild, who was embroiled in a long legal battle with Danese, which led to legislation colloquially known as “Peter Falk’s Law”.

According to Catherine, Danese, her father’s conservator, forbade his family members from visiting him and did not inform them of any changes in his condition. It was also claimed that she didn’t notify his family about his death and funeral arrangements.

The law was first passed in New York and created guidelines to secure legal visitation for family members, as well as updates on serious health developments and death.

The legislation has now been passed in many states in the US, and forces guardians and conservators to comply with the guidelines laid out when the incapacitated person is unable to express their wishes themselves.

It has been widely reported that Peter’s headstone reads, “I’m not here. I’m home with Shera.”

Peter Falk was best known for his portrayal of Lieutenant Columbo on the NBC and ABC series Columbo, which ran from the 1960s until the early noughties.

Throughout his life, he also appeared in several other TV shows and films, including The Princess Bride, Wings of Desire, Camera Three, and The Trials of O’Brien.
