Hyderabad:Goshamahal police registered a criminal case against a city‑based individual and his associates for unauthorised use of a siren, misuse of VIP stickers, impersonation, and misbehaviour towards police personnel on duty.
The accused, identified as Girish Kumar Agarwal and his driver Hanuma Reddy, were intercepted on Tuesday around 11.30 am by SI M. Raghavendra and his team near the Traffic Training Institute, Goshamahal. The white Toyota Fortuner they were travelling in was found fitted with a siren, which is prohibited for private vehicles.
Police said the accused behaved rudely when stopped and attempted to justify the violations by producing an identity card linked to a National Human Rights Organisation.
Based on a complaint, a case was registered under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including impersonation, cheating, and causing public inconvenience, along with provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act. The vehicle was seized and shifted to Goshamahal police station. Notices have been issued under BNSS provisions directing the accused to appear before police. One of the accused is absconding, and further investigation is underway.
