David Allan Coe, over the years, established himself as a well-known figure in the music industry. David’s health had been declining for all these years, as reported, and he also had a near-fatal experience during the time of Covid, 4 years back. Well, as he passed away, people have been digging out more information about him. For the unversed, not once did David marry multiple times, as reported. As per an archiver of US International in 1983, the legend chose monogamy and got properly married. Back then, he reportedly was being sued by his then-wife. David was allegedly married twice before that. In the interview, he said that when he got divorced for the second time, he decided that he would never be emotionally attached to anyone, and thus, he surrounded himself with his wives, so that he wouldn’t have to be involved with a single person. However, he took a chance, and he himself said that he got betrayed after that, which made him feel that it would be really very difficult for him to commit ever again. He could be quoted as saying:
“When I had my second divorce, I made up my mind that I would never let myself become emotionally involved with a woman and that’s why I surrounded myself with them — so that I wouldn’t have to be involved with any one person. I took another chance and I got betrayed. It’s going to be very, very difficult for me to ever commit myself again,’ he said.”

Who was David Allan Coe’s wife, Jody Lynn Benham?

David accepted that it affected him with the kind of strict treatment they would get. He was also sent to a barn, where a man would come to pick up the milk jugs. Later, in life, David got married to Jody Lynn Benham from Michigan, and later got to know that the person who would come to pick up the milk jugs was her dad and the barn was her uncle’s. An excerpt from David’s statement could be read as:
“After being there about three weeks they sent you out to live and work on a farm – for nothin’. It was my job to milk the cows. This guy came by in a van once a day to pick up the milk jugs. I ran away from that place and hid in a barn but I got caught. I escaped there again with some older boys and stole cars. From there I went to detention homes, and reformatory schools and penitentiaries. Later in life I married Jody Lynn Benham from Laingsburg, Michigan. Come to find out, the man that used to pick up that milk when I was a little boy, was her father! And the barn that I hid in was her uncle’s!”
