Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government has spent Rs.63,000 crore for disbursing pensions in the last 22 months, said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday.

“We are providing pensions to as many as 62.47 lakh people every month. We have spent more than Rs. 63,000 crore on pensions in 22 months. We are keeping Rs. 2,700 crore ready every month,” he said.

The NDA government is the only government in the country that is spending Rs.33,000 crore per year like nowhere else. “We are not thinking of it as a burden but we are thinking of it as a responsibility,” he said while speaking during a meeting organized on the occasion of May Day.

Stating that the government has opened 263 Anna canteens across the State, he said the drivers, laborers, workers, and unorganized workers were utilizing them effectively.

“I salute all workers as you work in scorching heat and in dangerous conditions. It is because of your hard work that society moves forward and development happens. There are 8.8 million unorganized workers in our state, working in small and large industries,” he said.

Naidu further stated that the government is spending Rs.615 crore for the welfare of all of them. “We are setting up labor addas in 15 locations across the state. These are being arranged so that workers do not face difficulties whether it rains or during extreme heat.

“We are constructing shelters with good facilities at these labor addas. Workers can be sent from the adda to places where they are needed. We are providing Rs.15,000 per year as financial assistance to auto drivers. No individual in the state should face difficulties,” he added.
