Actor Danny Dyer has opened up about why he thinks boys are not growing into men these days due to their fears of “being too cuddly or affectionate and crying”
Danny Dyer has had his say on how boys are being raised in modern day – and it’s not all complimentary. The Rivals star, 48, claimed boys are not brought up to be men nowadays.
Instead, he insists there is a fear of being “too cuddly or affectionate”. The former EastEnders actor has played a number of “hard men” roles throughout his career.
But he says the reality is that he is “quite a gentle person” and a “sensitive soul”. Despite his admission, he says things have to change on how young men are raised, insisting men are “too frightened of being too cuddly”.

He said some people are scared to show their emotions. Speaking to The Guardian, Danny said: “I like masculinity in men and taking the p*** out of each other, but it’s also important to be able slip into that feminine side and open up about your feelings.
“We’re brought up as young boys to be boys, but not men. In other words, many men never grow up. You have to find out how to be a decent man. We’re so frightened of being too cuddly or affectionate or crying.”
The dad-of-three, who shares Love Island star Dani, 29, Sunnie, 19, and and Arty, 12, with wife, Joanne Mas also revealed his worries for his youngest. He admits he fears he worries about them growing up in an Artificial Intelligence-powered world.
He went on: “We’re regressing. Back in the day, if you didn’t know something you couldn’t just punch it into a phone and find out the answer. It just makes us f****** lazy, you know what I mean? It’s detrimental for society and for our brains.
“I do as much as I can with him. We go out on our bikes together. And I’ve taught him to play chess. I have to let him win, because he’s such a bad loser.
“Now the kids sit indoors on a beautiful day playing games. There’s no incentive to go out now, and knock on your mate’s door.”
He says kids nowadays are able to sit in their own home and communicate in their headphones all day. He said this new way of being with friends is something “we have to adapt to as parents”.
Danny recently disgusted his eldest daughter on their reality TV show. On an episode of Sky’s The Dyers’ Caravan Park, Dani was left squirming. The clip showed the family members working at the reception at their caravan park.
When Dani asked her dad if he had finished his coffee, the actor responded: “Yeah, I sucked that right off. Now I want a Moretti.” As Dani cleaned the cup, she told her dad: “I love you, but I don’t want moustache germs on there.”
Danny horrified his daughter as he quickly replied: “What, in my moustache? The only thing in my moustache is your mother.”
