Hyderabad:Construction of the new Osmania General Hospital complex at Goshamahal was targeted to be completed by next year, health minister Damodar Rajanarsimha said here on Saturday. The design, the minister said, was being tailored to ensure ease and efficiency for patients, doctors and healthcare staff alike.

Rajanarsimha was addressing the 175th MBBS graduation ceremony at Osmania Medical College, where he, along with Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, conferred degrees on students. Senior officials, including Kaloji Narayana Rao Health University Vice Chancellor Dr Ramesh Reddy, DME Dr Narendra Kumar and principal DR Rajarao, were present.

Congratulating the graduates, the minister urged young doctors to prioritise patient care and empathy over commercial considerations, assuring them of the government’s continued support.

The existing OGH building continues to serve thousands, and recent milestones such as a successful liver transplant on an 18-month-old child underscore the clinical expertise available.

Once operational, the new complex is expected to significantly expand super speciality services, emergency care and access to advanced treatment.
