Rob Rinder has revealed the abuse he faced on the streets of London days after the horrifying stabbings of two Jewish men in Golders Green

Rob Rinder sadly admitted he was “not shocked” after facing a sickening moment in London just days after the stabbings of two Jewish men in Golders Green.

The TV presenter revealed the shocking scenes took place while he was walking in central London on Friday night. He wrote on Instagram: “On Carnaby Street last night, a kid on a bike cycled up, saw it was me, looked friendly at first, then offered up his favourite ‘lyric’: ‘Heil Hitler.'”

The advocate added he wasn’t sure whether or not to share the comment, but revealed what he found striking. He went on: “I hadn’t experienced that personally before. The most striking thing: I wasn’t shocked.

“No threat. No anger. Not a victim. Just: what has he been taught? Hatred is learned. We are not defined by it. We answer it by what we teach.”

The former barrister visited a synagogue last week which was the location for another stabbing. In October, a man drove a car into pedestrians and stabbed worshippers at the Heaton Park Synagogue in Manchester. The horrifying incident took place on Yom Kippur, which is the holiest day in the Jewish calendar.

He took to Instagram after his visit and said: “The strength of the community there is something you feel immediately. As the horror unfolded, Rabbi Walker carried on the service.

“With quiet insistence, he carried on. He kept the prayers going to the very final prayer. That is Jewish life. That is how it works. Not loud. Not for show. Just the quiet, stubborn refusal to stop. And somehow, that is where hope begins.”

The recent abuse thrown at Rinder, comes as Britain’s Jewish community faces fresh attacks. Last week, two Jewish men were stabbed in Golders Green in northwest London. It saw the UK rise their terror threat from “substantial” to “severe”.

Essa Suleiman, who has been accused of trying to kill two Jewish men during the knife rampage, appeared in court on Friday charged with their attempted murders. He was also charged with trying to kill one of his friends.

Suleiman, 45, is accused of trying to kill Shloime Rand, 34, and Moshe Shine, 76, in the horrifying attack on Wednesday. He was was also charged with attempted murder in relation to a separate incident on the same date in southeast London.

At the hearing on Friday, Chief Magistrate Paul Goldspring remanded Suleiman in custody after he faced the criminal charges for the first time.
