The BBC has been under the radar after a serious allegation and report went viral about one of its presenters. The incident happened in 2014, and as per the claims, he went on to break a female colleague’s wrist. However, it is further revealed that the bosses failed to take any proper action and tried to cover up the incident by assigning him less desirable shifts.

BBC bosses accused of covering up a presenter’s inhumane act

As per the report first filed by The Daily Mail, the star presenter broke a female colleague’s wrist during an incident which occurred in 2014. The horrifying details of the incident revealed how the presenter grabbed the female. The source revealed that the alleged altercation happened after the presenter had taken her by the wrists, crossed them over one another and then threw her down to the floor.

The source revealed that a doctor’s report was filed, but nobody took any serious action on the matter. The source also claimed that the BBC covered up the whole act. The source statement can be read as:

“He had taken her by the wrists, crossed them over one another and then threw her down to the floor. A doctor’s report was filed but nobody did anything about it. It was a cover-up from the BBC.”

Instead of reporting the matter to the police or taking the right action, senior managers tried to cover up the matter. In fact, the report stated that the presenter was allowed to continue his work with the network for several years after the incident. As an action, he wasn’t fired from the organisation; he was reportedly given less desirable work shifts, and it was done in order to make him leave the job on his own.

The report further added that the presenter and the female colleague have both left the broadcaster for reasons unrelated to the claims about the shocking incident. Conservative MP Greg Stafford also spoke about the BBC’s approach to covering up the acts. He said:

“We should barely be surprised given the BBC’s record of cover-ups. But it beggars belief that proper action was not taken against this individual at the time this incident was said to have occurred. For one person to break another’s wrists is assault and if such an allegation was then made, the BBC should have called in the police. However, it would appear that once again, BBC bosses chose to brush a most serious problem under the carpet rather than address it properly.”

This led to scrutiny around the BBC’s way of handling serious complaints made within the organisation by employees. Greg Stafford stated that the organisation should have reported the matter and stronger action should have been taken in the matter. It is worth mentioning that the BBC has been dealing with scrutiny due to the misconduct by its other well-known figures, such as Jimmy Savile.

For the unversed, last month, the BBC faced backlash as it admitted that they knew police had investigated the former Radio 2 DJ Scott Mills for alleged sexual offences in 2017. Scott Mills was the most notable voice of BBC Radio 2, but on March 30, 2026, he was fired from the company. According to multiple reports, allegations of his personal conduct have led to the decision. The BBC further shared an official statement confirming that Scott Mills is no longer working with them. However, they further denied sharing the reason for it and stated that it was against their policy to comment on an individual employee’s matters.
