An 18-year-old man has died after a major crash which saw the Mitchell Freeway backed up for hours on Sunday morning.
WA Police said the man was driving his white Nissan Patrol northbound on the freeway when he lost control and the car rolled near the Powis Street exit.
The freeway was closed as emergency services attended and drivers were urged to seek an alternate route.
“The 18-year-old male driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, sustained critical injuries and was conveyed to Royal Perth Hospital, where sadly he died a short time later,” a WA Police spokesperson said.
Major crash officers are investigating the crash and have called on anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
