A married couple, belonging to Kukatpally in Hyderabad, died by suicide within two months of their wedlock.
According to the police, Yanjala Karthik, 28, of Kummarabasti in Kukatpally, got married to Manjula alias Gyanasika, 27, belonging to Rajivgandhi Nagar near Prashanth Nagar in the city, on March 8.
While Karthik was working in the marketing section in ITC, Manjulas had worked as an architect till recently. As both the families were relatives, Karthik and Manjula got married after falling in love with each other.
Late in the night on Friday, the couple went into their room after having dinner with other family members. The next day, Karthik and Manjula did not come out of the room till 11.30 am nor did Karthik take any calls. Suspecting something untoward, his mother and elder brother broke open the doors and found Karthik hanging from the ventilator and Manjula lying unconscious on the bed, with froth oozing out from her mouth. Soon they shifted the duo to a nearby hospital where doctors declared they were brought dead.
Their family members could not find any strong motive behind the extreme step. They said that the couple had fund at a function on Friday and that their families also had no disputes. It is being suspected that the duo died early on Saturday morning.
Following a complaint from Manjula’s mother, police began investigation.
