THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Congress (M) is heading for a near wipe-out in the assembly elections, with the party leading only in one of the 12 seats it contested.
Party Chairman Jose K Mani is trailing in Pala. Water Resources Minister Roshy Augustine is also behind in Idukki.
Only one candidate, Sebastian Kulathunkal, in the Poonjar constituency. The KCM, which is a Christian-dominated party with considerable influence in the central Travancore region, had crossed over to the LDF, inflicting a major blow to the UDF.
However, KCM’s political rival Kerala Congress (Joseph), which is with the UDF, is leading in seven constituencies.
