While changes at the helm of the Water Polo Federation of Serbia caused changes in the coaching staff, and Uros Stevanovic’s resignation from the position of the national team head coach, the Serbian League is coming to an end.
Radnicki qualified for the playoffs final, while the second finalist will be decided in the third match between Sabac and Novi Beograd.
After losing to Novi Beograd at home (9:13) in the first game of the semifinals, Sabac beat its rival in Belgrade (19:18) and prolonged the series. Sabac will host the decisive match.
Novi Beograd led for most of the first half in Belgrade, but its advantage never exceeded three goals. The hosts had a 6:3 in the first quarter, and 8:6 in the second period. At halftime, it stood 9:9. The rivals were tied at the last break, too, 13:13. In the fourth period, the teams traded goals, Sabac took a one-goal lead five times, Novi Beograd leveled four times, but it had no answer after Korac made it 19:18 with 18 seconds remaining. Ognjen Stojanovic led Sabac with five goals; Moracanin, Macic, and Korac contributed three each to the win. Vasilije Martinovic’s excellent performance and his seven goals didn’t help Novi Beograd achieve a victory. Captain Milos Cuk added three. This was Sabac’s second narrow away win over Novi Beograd in Belgrade this season, after a 17:16 victory in the VRL League.
