Vijayawada: A delegation of 37 teachers from Andhra Pradesh has been sent to Singapore for a five-day training programme aimed at improving teaching standards.
The teachers, who received the State Best Teacher Award in 2025, began the programme at the National Institute of Education from May 4 to 8 under the theme “Designing Learning, Inspiring Thinking”. The group includes 10 headmasters, 18 school assistants, four principals and five physical directors, including 17 women.
The programme covers Singapore’s education system, instructional design, critical thinking skills, facilitation and collaboration, and future-ready classrooms. The delegation will also visit Yishun Secondary School as part of the training.
The state government plans to send another batch of 29 teachers to the University of Turku in Finland for further training.
Samagra Shiksha state project director B. Srinivasa Rao said the teachers will implement a post-training action plan and mentor other educators after their return. The initiative is part of the vision of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and education minister N. Lokesh to align education with global standards.
